Youth and age is relative of course—there is a moment around 20 when you feel far older and wearier than you will for many years to come—and the 21- or 22-year-old Curtis clearly felt something like that when he wrote the lyrics to “Infinity.”
Guess the dreams always end
They don’t rise up just descend
But I don’t care anymore
I’ve lost the will to want more
I’m not afraid—not at all
I watch them all as they fall
But I remember when we were young
